Fraser McAlpine Design - Brilliant Building Designs in Dunsborough, Western Australia

A+ R A-

Perched high on the ridge at Yallingup with uninterupted views north along the surf coast to Sugarloaf Rock in the distance, this home is all about the view.

Restrictive planning covenants limited the building footprint size and overall height, so a basement level was designed to virtually double the home's total area.

The harsh coastal environment and exposure to the elements dictated the floorplan layout and materials used. Windows to the Western elevation are minimised, whilst the views from the north elevation are unimpeded by a wall of glass.  The compact verandah/alfresco is elevated above the landscaped ground levels further enhancing the views, and is sheltered from the often chilly seabreeze by a blade wall to the west

Local limestone "cap rock", rendered masonry & Scyon Matrix cladding with a "butterfly" skillion roof give this home a contemporary coastal feel.
